About Fitness & Nutrition with Rachael M.
I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Exercise Physiologist, and Certified Personal Trainer. I have master's level degrees in both exercise physiology and nutrition from the University of Michigan and have more than five years experience teaching fitness classes, personal training, and counseling nutrition clients. I am passionate about helping patients and clients achieve their best health and any goals they may have. I believe in changing lifestyle and habits to achieve healthful, lasting results and take a food first approach before recommending supplementation. I also believe in individualization of recommendations and plans, as we are all different and one size does not fit all when it comes to food patterns and preferences, nutrition status, and fitness level. I counsel on all things nutrition as well as exercise programming and prescription. I have worked in fitness, wellness, and health care settings and have experience working with a broad and varying client base with various fitness levels, health goals, and physical abilities. My specialties include weight management, chronic disease management and prevention through nutrition and exercise prescription and monitoring, building lean muscle mass and overcoming weight loss plateaus, rehabilitating minor injuries while also incorporating corrective exercises for further injury prevention, overseeing physical therapy exercises in conjunction with a physical therapist and physical medicine physician, conditioning for recreational athletes, senior fitness, functional fitness, high intensity interval training, dance fitness, and general strength training principles and programs for beginners.
